Ownership vs helping

Ownership means carrying a responsibility from noticing through follow-up. Helping means doing an agreed part while someone else may still hold the overall job.

What it looks like at home

Helping with groceries could mean collecting an order. Owning groceries could also include checking supplies, choosing the order, and putting food away.

The useful distinction

Both can be useful when the arrangement is clear. Trouble starts when one person expects ownership and the other understands a single errand.
