Cozi alternatives, by what you want to change

Cozi is a solid family organizer. These are the other options, sorted by what you might want instead, with prices.

Free for both of you Pro is $9.99/month.

Tiptoe on iPhone: Home, with open tasks for you and Sam side by side, what you both got done this week, overdue tasks, and what was handled today with a Thanks button.

Disclosure: Tiptoe makes this page, and Tiptoe is one of the options below. Cozi is a solid app, and if it works for your family there may be no reason to leave.

The best Cozi alternative depends on what you want to change. For a similar family organizer with assigning, try FamilyWall. For a free family calendar with no ads, use Google's family calendar or Apple's Family Sharing calendar, and for a calendar shared across several groups, try TimeTree. If you are really a couple rather than a big household, Cupla is built around a couple's calendar, and Tiptoe is built around shared chores and a weekly check-in. People often search for this with a husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend in mind, and it helps to decide first whether you are planning for two or for a whole family.

All competitor facts below were checked on each company's own site or App Store page, as of November 2026. Prices can change, so check before you pay.

What does Cozi do well?

It is worth being clear about what you would give up. Cozi is a shared family calendar, color-coded by person, with shopping and to-do lists, a recipe box and a meal planner that can send ingredients to the shopping list. It can also import school and sports schedules from services such as TeamSnap and SportsEngine, and it runs on iPhone, Android and web.

If you are a family with school-age kids and meals to plan, this is a strong combination, and not many apps do all of it.

Why do people look for a Cozi alternative?

Going by Cozi's own pages, these are the usual reasons.

If you want another full family organizer

FamilyWall. This is the closest match. The App Store listing lists a shared color-coded calendar, shopping lists, task lists that can assign to-dos to selected family members, recipes, messaging and a gallery as free features. Premium is $7.99 a month or $44.99 a year there, covers the whole family, and adds meal planning, a budget tracker, Google or Outlook sync, and enhanced location. It's on Android, iPhone and iPad, plus any web browser. Choose this if assigning individual tasks matters, or if you want family messaging. Note that meal planning, one of Cozi's strengths, is part of Premium here.

If you only need a free family calendar

Google family calendar. When you create a family group on Google, a calendar called Family is created automatically. Anyone in the family can change events and manage sharing. A group holds up to six people, you can only be in one, and you can only change groups once every 12 months. Choose this for mixed phones. For a couple, a plain shared Google Calendar is often simpler.

Apple Family Sharing calendar. Apple says that Family Sharing sets up a shared calendar on everyone's devices once they accept, for the organizer and up to five others. Choose this for an all-Apple household that already uses Family Sharing. For two people, a shared iCloud calendar takes less setup.

Pair either one with a free list. Shared Apple Reminders has assigning and a grocery list type, and Google Keep handles a grocery list across any phones. What you lose compared with Cozi is one place for everything, and the meal planner.

If you want a calendar for several groups

TimeTree. A calendar app built around sharing. You can create several shared calendars, such as family, hobbies or school, and see them all together. It also has memos and to-do lists. The free version shows ads, and Premium is $4.49 a month or $44.99 a year. Choose this if your life spreads across family, friends and groups, and the calendar is what matters.

If groceries and meals are the main thing

AnyList. It is a grocery shopping list app that also handles recipes and meal planning, and shared lists update for everyone right away. AnyList Complete is $14.99 a year for a household, or $9.99 for an individual. It's on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Mac and the web. Choose this if Cozi's meal side is what you use the most, and pair it with any calendar.

If you are a couple rather than a big household

Family organizers are built for everyone in the house. A couple often needs something different.

Cupla. A shared calendar built for couples. It merges both partners' calendars with two-way sync to Google, Apple and Outlook, per-event privacy, shared to-dos assigned to one partner, the other or both, a date planner and wishlists. The free version limits how far ahead you can see your partner's items, and Premium is from $4.99 a month, one subscription per couple. Choose this if the calendar is your main problem. See also Cupla alternatives.

Any.do Family. A planner with a shared space. Family is $8.33 a month billed yearly or $9.99 month to month for up to four members, with Assign Member on shared boards and a grocery list that sorts by aisle. Choose this if you want personal planning too.

Tiptoe. Our app. Shared tasks and repeating chores with one owner, lists, a calendar, thank-yous and a weekly check-in. It is free for both partners for the couple's first 30 tasks and chores combined, with deleted items still counting, then Pro is $9.99 a month for both of you. It's on iPhone and web, with no Android app. Cozi is much stronger on meals, recipes, kids' schedules and a whole-family view. Tiptoe is built for two adults who want to settle who owns what. Choose it if that's the problem you're trying to solve, and you both use iPhone or web. Our chore app comparison has other apps built around chores.

What does each option cost over a year?

As of November 2026, using the prices above:

  • Cozi: $0 with ads, $39 a year for Gold, $79 a year for Max.
  • Google or Apple family calendars: $0.
  • FamilyWall: $0, or $44.99 a year for Premium, which covers the family.
  • TimeTree: $0 with ads, or $44.99 a year for Premium. Check whether one payment covers the people you share with.
  • AnyList: free tier, or $14.99 a year for a household.
  • Cupla: free tier, or from $4.99 a month per couple.
  • Any.do Family: about $100 a year on yearly billing, for up to four people.
  • Tiptoe: $0 for your first 30 tasks and chores, then $9.99 a month, or about $120 a year, for two.

If ads and the 30-day view are your only complaints, Gold at $39 is one of the cheaper fixes on this list. A move would cost you more in setup time than it saves.

What might this look like in your house?

Two parents, two kids in school. You probably want Cozi's kind of app, whether that's Cozi or FamilyWall. Most of the value is in one calendar that all of you can see.

A couple with no kids who started on Cozi. You may be paying for or scrolling past features you don't use. A shared calendar and a shared list may do the job.

Co-parents in two homes. A family organizer can work, but Cozi's shared account and shared password might not suit everyone. A shared calendar that holds only the children's events may be cleaner, and each of you keeps your own.

What should you do before you move?

Before you import a calendar, take these steps.

Step 1. Write down the two things you actually use in Cozi. Most families use the calendar and one list, and it's easier to replace two things than an entire app.

Step 2. Say what you want to change, in a sentence. "I want no ads" is a cheap fix, and Gold may solve it for $39. "I want my husband or wife to take over the school calendar" won't be solved by another app.

Step 3. Try the new option alongside Cozi for two weeks, with just next week's events. Move everything only if you both actually used it.

Step 4. Assign an owner to every area of family life. Any family organizer can show a shared calendar, but none of them decide who noticed that the permission slip is due. Every household job has four parts: notice, plan, do, and follow up. If one parent does all the noticing and planning, the mental load stays exactly where it was, whichever app you choose.

How do you split ownership in a family calendar?

Here's a split that works for lots of households. Divide family life into areas, and let each parent own a whole area.

  • School. Forms, teachers, pickup changes, picture day.
  • Medical. Checkups, dentist, prescriptions, insurance forms.
  • Activities. Sign-ups, uniforms, carpools.
  • Food. Meal plan, shopping, lunch boxes.
  • House and car. Repairs, renewals, service dates.

The owner adds their area's events to the calendar. The other parent reads the calendar and doesn't have to ask. That's whole-job ownership, as opposed to helping, and it's the idea behind our complete chore split. To see the hours, try the chore split calculator, which runs in your browser.

You can start the conversation with something like this:

"I'd like to hand over one whole area, not a list of jobs. Would you want to own activities? That means sign-ups, gear and carpools, and I'd stay out of it unless you asked."

Which Cozi alternative should you choose?

  • Another whole-family app with assigning: FamilyWall.
  • Free calendar, mixed phones: Google family calendar, or a shared Google Calendar.
  • Free calendar, all Apple: Family Sharing calendar, or a shared iCloud calendar.
  • Calendars across several groups: TimeTree.
  • Meals and groceries: AnyList.
  • A couple's calendar: Cupla.
  • A planner with shared tasks: Any.do Family.
  • Chores and a weekly check-in for two, on iPhone or web: Tiptoe.
  • Kids' schedules, recipes and meal planning in one app: stay with Cozi, and consider Gold.

There's also a free, no-app version. Put a paper calendar on the fridge, print our chore split worksheet, and take ten minutes on Sunday for a weekly check-in. See the shared to-do apps we compared if you want a wider list.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cozi still free?
Yes. As of November 2026, Cozi has a free version with a shared calendar, lists and a recipe box. Gold is $39 a year and removes ads, and Max is $79 a year and adds AI tools.
Is there a free app like Cozi with no ads?
A shared Google or iCloud calendar plus a free list app such as Google Keep or Apple Reminders covers much of it. FamilyWall's App Store listing also has a large set of free features, though you should check for ads yourself. Nothing we checked replaces Cozi's recipes and meal planner in one free app.
What is a good Cozi alternative for just me and my wife or husband?
A couple often does not need a family organizer. Cupla is built around a couple's calendar. Tiptoe is built around shared chores and a weekly check-in, on iPhone and web. A shared Google or iCloud calendar is free if you only want to see plans.
Can you assign tasks to family members in Cozi?
Partly. Cozi's to-do lists have an owner per list, which is mainly a color code and does not alert anyone. Cozi Chores gives each family member their own daily or weekly chores on iOS and Android.
Is FamilyWall better than Cozi?
They overlap. FamilyWall's App Store listing includes assigning to-dos and family messaging among free features, while Cozi has strong meal planning and recipes in its free version. FamilyWall's meal planning is part of Premium. Choose by which of those you use most.

Fewer reminders. Clear owners.

Free for both of you Pro is $9.99/month. No card needed. Your first 30 tasks and chores are free.
